Hey kids and kittens...
So only a few weeks later and here I am telling you to follow the link below and check out the radio interview Julie, Donna, Diane and I did with blog radio host Silas Kain this past Tuesday. This was to promote the upcoming webseries I'll be starring in..."Fumbling Thru the Pieces" and yes, this is the same one I just rapped about in my earlier post.
Skip ahead past the first 60 minutes (yup! 60! this dude could really chat!) to hear my segment. Or if you wanna crack up, skip to about 40 minutes in and you'll also hear Diane Delano. She's a hoot.
That tis all :)

Catching up!
WOW. It's been forever since my last entry! I've since shot that webseries ("Fumbling Through the Pieces") and I'm now at a very interesting...very unanticipated crossroads. I'm deciding whether or not acting is indeed the right choice for me. I loved shooting the series. The crew was UBER professional (well, with a few exceptions but aren't there always exceptions?) and Julie did a wonderful job as producer. I should mention that she also wore the hats of director (for 2 episodes) and craft services assistant at one point when I came down with a terrible stomach flu and she grabbed me Gatorade to help keep me hydrated. Yeah...all in all? She was awesome.
Now that being said, I'm not really sure it was any of the acting I was doing that actually left me in a good mood each day. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was just my being apart of a stellar team like the cast and crew Julie managed to put together...I think feeling THAT is what really made me smile.
I don't know though...more on that later. Obviously acting isn't just something I'd suddenly toss to the curb. It's been in my blood for years and not the way some people may CLAIM its been in theirs. It was never a fun thing I thought I might pursue after college or even something I thought I'd try once I had managed to find a more steady job first. Nope. It has always been my #1. What I've known I should be doing since age 6 and what I've lived and breathed since entering NYU. So we'll see. For me to give up on it now would be devastatingly sad but perhaps...the 1st step in a new, more fulfilling direction. Who knows?

Diane Delano
So I'm going to star in a web series at the end of the summer...not "Girl Parts"...I'll be in that too (once we further develop it) but I'll also be starring in "Fumbling Through the Pieces", a series written by a good friend of mine Julie Smith. Psyched for that! But also eager to learn a lot from my co-star. Julie has cast her pal of many years Diane Delano.
If you're not familiar with Diane's work, don't worry. Not a lot of people are but LET ME TELL YOU, this woman has worked. She's been in this business for YEARS and to know that at one point, she was a staple in the musical theatre world (too many shows to list here) and then at another, there she was starring as a series regular in a show I used to be obsessed with as a pre-teen ("Popular")? Well that's just exciting...and inspirational...and exciting that I get to work with her.
Looking forward to it, to say the least ;) I'm just sayin'...

GLEEve Me a Break
Yes, I realize my subject is borderline ridiculous. The word 'glee' makes an -ee- sound and should therefore NEVER be morphed into the word 'give' even if someone's trying to be funny...but hey, it's Saturday night and I'm sitting here in my sunken living room with SNL on in the background and my cute little bear of a dog now falling asleep in my lap. Can't you cut a girl a break?
Here's what it comes down to...Glee was boring this week. I'm sorry. I never thought I'd say it. But it's true. It really was. I mean, HOW many slow songs can one FOX show possibly cram into 48 minutes? Well, a lot apparently. And one of those songs happens to have been one of the first ballads I ever decided to officially retire from my "Fave Songs to Sing at Karaoke" list. Yeah, even I decided this song was dead to me after hearing too many other young teenage wannabes try to tackle it AND FAIL.
What song is this, might you ask? That would be "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. As in "I AM Beautiful". As in the song also known as "I'm ok with me and you should be too. So don't make me hate myself." As in EVERY MESSAGE EVER CONVEYED BY A TEENAGE SITCOM OR ONE-HOUR DRAMA so listen up, Glee writers, DON'T BE LIKE EVERY OTHER SHOW ON TV, OK? We get it. You're writing about teens and they're probably struggling with confidence issues and blah-blah-blah but don't shove this kind of predictable sentimental crap down our throats. We like your show because you DON'T normally do that. You just let us laugh and sing/dance around our living rooms. And that's fun.
So don't ruin that for me, ok? Don't make me collapse on my couch and take a breather. I LIKE the singing. I LIKE the dancing. I don't, however, like hearing Mercedes talk about her weight issues. No one does. She's fat. We get that. We've gotten that from day one of the show. And as much as I'd like to say, "Aww poor thing. She wants to lose weight. Let's hope she does." I REFUSE. She should NOT lose weight...EVER. We all know that overweight black women tend to be blessed with amazing pipes. So listen, that's what she gets for being heavy. She gets a stellar voice. If she were a twig, she'd probably be tone deaf. Hey, that's just how things work.
The point is...stick to the jokes and the music...oh and the cute little love triangles. Don't force me to care about the other stuff. I'll resist.
I'm just sayin'.

Off My Chest
Wow. Just got something big off my chest.
It's pretty personal...and since I have now stupidly added this URL to my Facebook page and a good portion of the professional emails I've sent in recent weeks (**smacking forehead** stupid! stupid!), I probably shouldn't share exactly what it was on Prefamer. BUT, if you're at all intrigued, let me know. I'll definitely fill you in.
In other news, "How to Tame Your Dragon" beat out "The Back-Up Plan" for the number one spot at the box office this past weekend and one critic chose the headline below to sum up this fact:
"Pregnant Jennifer Lopez Killed by Dragon"
Pretty genius. I'm just sayin'.

A Future Cougar Town
Ahh Cougar Town.
A pretty hilarious sitcom that in its first season has brought us the memorable phrase "gay trap" AND a ridiculous, over-the-top prediction of life as we could easily know it in the somewhat near future.
I won't lie...the idea of dating a guy just for his looks and sexual prowess at the moment has grown a bit old to say the least. There are a lot of attractive guys in LA. Go to the gym, make sure your arms look nice, throw on a nice shirt, buy some expensive hair products every now and then...boom! You're hot. Well, you're at least semi-hot.
At this particular point in my life, I'm looking for more...a LOT more. But let's just say I look and look and look but never FIND.
Well, that's where Cougar Town comes in.
I can TOTALLY see myself being a "cougar" in my 40's...or heck, even in my mid to late 30's. Younger guys are always hotter. Sorry, but they are. The salt n' pepper George Clooney/Richard Gere look definitely has its appeal as well, don't get me wrong. And who wouldn't want to meet George Clooney? But would you want to meet George Clooney in the ah-hem...biblical sense? I know I wouldn't. The possibility of a hurt back (his back of course, not mine), a ruptured disc or even just the awkwardness of probably needing pills to perform? NOT. HOT.

Hmm...perhaps a new direction?

Ok. So no uber eager participants when it comes to sharing embarrassing stories. "WWHHHHAAAAT??" you gasp? I know. Shocking. Apparently all the self-deprecating bums of the world (like myself) like to save up all their crazy stories for happy hour instead of my tiny, harmless little blog. No worries. I'm taking PreFamer in a new direction.
From now on, this'll just be a place for me to write about tv shows I love (ah-hem, Glee, Modern Family, Parenthood, Cougar Town...yeah, Cougar Town, get over it) AND I'll also write about what tv shows or webseries I, as in I, myself, Kelsey Robinson, have on the horizon. Like...TAH DAH! GIRL PARTS. Coming soon! Ever wondered what would happen if four actresses lived together in LA and always competed for the same parts!??? Neither did we, so we made one of them an ex-child star and BAM! You have GIRL PARTS.
I'll have a website up and running soon but in the meantime, if you'd like to see cast pics, bios and a trailer, login to Facebook and search for two simple words: GIRL PARTS.
Until next time, kiddos :)

Ahhhh, the Trust Circle
Here it is, folks.
PREFAMER.
Where you can go when something AWKARD/EMBARASSING/EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL has happened to you or your career in the entertainment industry.
Sit back, relax and let the gentle arms of our trust circle embrace you warmly and then prepare to cringe as you watch random strangers comment on your horror stories.
Auditions...callbacks...rehearsals...meetings..."drinks"...read-throughs...whatever. Just tell us what happened. You'll feel better, I promise. Or you'll at least laugh at it later...we swear.
Email your stories to: kelseyrob@gmail.com
Just don't mention any real names (unless you're feeling ballsy).
